National Microchipping Month

Friday 15th May, 2009

June is National Microchip Month. Vets, the kennel club and charities around the country will be taking part in order to promote the use of microchipping in dogs, cats, and other pets.

Microchips are an invaluable method of returning lost animals to their owners in as little time as possible. As soon as a stray animal arrives at any vets, police, RSPCA or dog warden, they are scanned for a chip. The owners' details are stored on a worldwide database, so wherever the lost animal ends up, they can be contacted within minutes.

The microchip is inserted underneath the skin quickly and painlessly with the animal conscious. They are very durable and last the whole life of the animal. They are also a necessary requirement if you are planning to take your animal abroad.

Runnymede Hill Veterinary Hospital will be taking part in National Microchipping Month and are offering microchips at the discounted price of £15+VAT (normally £25).

If you would like to book an appointment, or simply to discuss microchipping please contact us at the hospital.
